The short version
A plain summary of the sections below. The full terms are what apply.
Mondé Rewards is free. You join with your phone number — no password, no card, no minimum spend.
You earn 1 point for every 1,000 kip you spend with us.
Points are not money. They have no cash value and can't be sold, transferred or given away.
You need your 4-digit PIN to claim a reward. Keep it to yourself — we can never show it back to you.
Once you claim a reward the points come off straight away, and the voucher doesn't expire. Changed your mind? Cancel within 10 minutes and the points come back.
If we ever make the programme less generous, we'll tell you at least 30 days beforehand.
You can delete your account whenever you like. We hold it for 15 days in case you change your mind, then it's gone for good.
Section 1Who we are
Mondé Rewards is the loyalty programme of Mondé Matcha, a matcha café and pâtisserie in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
Legal entity
[ REGISTERED COMPANY NAME ]
Enterprise registration no.
[ REGISTRATION NUMBER ]
Registered address
[ REGISTERED ADDRESS ]
Café
Nam Phou, [ CONFIRM STREET ], Ban Xiangneun, Chanthabouli District, Vientiane, Lao PDR
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Mondé” mean that company. “You” means you, the member.
These terms are an agreement between you and us. They cover Mondé Rewards and the Mondé app at app.monde.cafe. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't join — you're very welcome in the café either way, and you don't need an account to buy anything.
Section 2Joining Mondé Rewards
Membership is free. There's no joining fee, no minimum spend, and no purchase necessary to open an account.
You must be 18 or over. If you're under 18, you may join only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.
You need a mobile number from Laos, Thailand or Vietnam. If your number is from somewhere else, our team can register you in person at the café.
One account per person, and one account per phone number.
Give us a real name and a number you actually use. We rely on both to identify you at the counter.
Membership is personal to you. It can't be sold, shared or transferred to anyone else.
Section 3Your phone number is your account
Your phone number is how we know it's you. There is no password. Each time you sign in, we send a code by SMS to that number and you enter it in the app.
You need a working phone number to sign in. There is no other way in.
If you change your number, you can move your account to the new one from within the app — you'll need a verified email address (section 4) and your PIN.
If you lose access to your number entirely, come and see us at the café with some way of identifying yourself and we'll do what we reasonably can.
Mobile numbers get reassigned. If you stop using the number on your account, please close your account or change the number first — otherwise whoever receives that number next may be able to sign in as you.
There are limits on how many codes can be requested for one number in a given period. That's there to protect you and to keep our costs sane; it isn't a fault.
Section 4Adding an email address
An email address is optional. If you add one, we'll verify it.
Email is not a way to sign in. It can't be used on its own to reach your account.
It's used to send you receipts and account notices, and to authorise a change of phone number.
Changing your phone number needs both an emailed code and your PIN. Someone with access to your inbox alone cannot take over your account.
Section 5Your PIN
When you join, you choose a 4-digit PIN. It's what stands between someone holding your unlocked phone and your points.
You'll need it every time you claim a reward.
We can never show it to you again. Not in the app, not by our staff, not over the phone. We don't store it in a form anyone can read — not even us. If you forget it, you reset it; nobody looks it up.
You can change or reset it in the app. That needs a fresh SMS code, so you must have your phone.
Too many wrong attempts and the PIN locks for a short period, which gets longer with each further round of wrong attempts.
Choose something that isn't obvious, and don't reuse a PIN that protects anything more important, such as a bank card.
Keep it to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account while your PIN is being used, unless you've told us it may have been compromised.
If you think someone else knows your PIN, or has your phone, change your PIN in the app straight away — or tell us and we'll suspend the account while you sort it out.
Section 6Earning points
You earn 1 point for every 1,000 kip you spend, rounded to the nearest whole point.
How to earn
Open the app and show the QR code on your membership card before you pay. Our team scans it and the points appear.
That QR code changes about once a minute. That's deliberate — it means a screenshot of it is useless a minute later, so nobody can collect points on your account.
Forgot your phone? Our team can look you up by your member number or your name and add the points manually.
Points are calculated by our system from the amount you actually paid. The number in the app is a display of that record, not the record itself.
What doesn't earn points
The value of any item you receive as a reward.
Tips, service charges and taxes shown separately.
Anything bought anywhere other than a Mondé café, including through a delivery platform unless we say otherwise.
Gift cards or vouchers, if we ever sell them. You'd earn on what they're spent on instead.
If something's wrong
Points should appear immediately. If they don't, show us your receipt within 30 days and we'll put it right.
If a sale is refunded, cancelled or reversed, the points from it come off your balance.
We can correct points that were added or removed in error, including our own errors, at any time.
Section 7Points are not money
This one matters, so it's stated plainly: points are a promotional benefit we offer. They are not currency, not a deposit, and not your property.
Points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.
They cannot be bought, sold, transferred, gifted, pooled with another member's, or passed on under a will.
Mondé Rewards is not a payment service. There is no balance to top up, no stored value, and no money held on your behalf.
Your points balance is a record of a benefit we may honour, not a debt we owe you.
Section 8Whether points expire
Points do not currently expire.
We may introduce expiry in future for accounts that have been inactive for a long time — for example, no purchase for 24 months. If we ever do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and a fair chance to use what you've earned.
Section 9Membership tiers
Mondé Rewards has several tiers. Your tier is based on the total points you've earned over time, not your current balance — so spending points never moves you down.
What each tier offers is described in the app and may change.
Tier benefits are a courtesy, not a guarantee. If we reduce them, section 11 applies.
Section 10Claiming a reward
Choose a reward in the app and enter your PIN. We then issue you a voucher — a 6-digit code and a QR code — to show at the counter.
The points come off as soon as you claim. The voucher is yours from that moment; the app will tell you so.
Vouchers don't expire. Use yours on the day or months later.
You can hold more than one unused voucher at a time.
Changed your mind? Cancel within 10 minutes and every point comes straight back. After 10 minutes a voucher can't be cancelled or converted back into points.
Each voucher can be used once. Once our team scans it, it's spent.
Vouchers have no cash value, can't be transferred or sold, and can't be exchanged for a different reward or for change.
Treat the code like cash. Anyone who shows it can claim the item. If you share it, photograph it, or post it, we can't recover the value.
Rewards depend on what's actually available that day. If something's out of stock we'll offer the nearest equivalent, or you can come back — the voucher keeps.
Items received as a reward don't earn points.
Section 11Changing or ending the programme
A loyalty programme has to be able to change. Here's how we'll handle it.
We may add or remove rewards, change how many points a reward costs, adjust tiers and their benefits, and run promotions.
Anything that makes the programme less generous — a lower earning rate, more expensive rewards, reduced tier benefits, new expiry rules — comes with at least 30 days' notice, sent by app notification, SMS or email.
Short-term promotions that make things more generous, such as double points, can start and finish without notice. They may have their own conditions, which we'll publish with them.
If we ever close Mondé Rewards, we'll give at least 60 days' notice, and your points and vouchers stay usable throughout that period.
Section 12Closing your account
If you want to leave
You can delete your account yourself in the app. It needs an SMS code and your PIN — two proofs, because it's not something to do by accident.
We then hold your account for 15 days. Sign in again within that window and everything comes back exactly as it was: points, vouchers, history.
After 15 days it is deleted permanently. Your points, unused vouchers and history are gone and cannot be restored by anyone, including us.
If we close your account
We may suspend or close an account for the reasons in section 13, or if we're required to.
Where we close an account for misuse, unused points and vouchers are cancelled.
We'll tell you, and if you think we've got it wrong, section 18 explains how to take it up with us.
Section 13Misuse
We'd rather never use this section. It's here so the rules are clear. We may suspend or close an account, reverse points and refuse vouchers if someone:
holds more than one account, or registers with false details or someone else's number;
sells, buys, shares or trades points, vouchers, codes or QR codes;
claims points for purchases they didn't make, or for other customers' purchases;
takes advantage of an obvious error — a bug, a mispriced reward, a duplicated credit — instead of telling us about it;
works with a member of our team to obtain points or rewards improperly;
interferes with the app, tries to automate it, or attempts to reach another member's account;
is abusive or threatening towards our team.
Where points or vouchers came about this way, we may reverse them even if they've already been claimed.
Section 14Your information
We collect what we need to run your membership, and no more.
This is the summary. Our full Privacy Statement sets out everything we collect, where it is stored, how it is protected and what rights you have under Lao law. Where the two differ, the Privacy Statement is the fuller account.
What we collect
Your name and mobile number.
Your email address and birthday, if you choose to give them.
Your purchases with us — what, when, how much — and your points and rewards history.
Basic technical information needed to operate the app and keep it secure.
What we use it for
Running your account: awarding points, tracking your tier, issuing vouchers.
Confirming it's you, and preventing fraud and misuse.
Sending you service messages about your account and the programme.
Understanding, in aggregate, what our customers enjoy — so we can make the café better.
Who else sees it
Our own team, to the extent they need it to serve you.
The technology providers who run the app on our behalf — hosting, database and SMS delivery. They act on our instructions and must keep your information confidential. Some of their servers are located outside Laos.
Anyone we're legally required to disclose it to.
We do not sell your information, and we don't share it with other businesses for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open, plus the 15-day window in section 12.
Records we need for accounting, tax or legal reasons may be kept longer, in the smallest form that serves the purpose.
Login codes are short-lived and deleted routinely.
Your choices
See and correct your details in the app at any time.
Service messages — sign-in codes, voucher confirmations, security and account notices — are part of having an account and can't be switched off while it's open.
Marketing messages about new drinks, events and offers are optional. You can turn them off in the app or by replying to any of them, and doing so won't affect your points.
Section 15The app itself
The Mondé app is a website, at app.monde.cafe. It works in a current mobile browser and can be added to your home screen. You'll need data or wifi, and that's yours to pay for.
The app is free to use. We don't promise it will always be available or entirely free of faults — maintenance happens, networks fail, phones are phones.
If the app is unavailable, our team can still find you at the counter using your member number or your name, so you don't lose points because of it.
Please don't try to break it, take it apart, automate it, or reach any account that isn't yours.
If you find a security flaw, please tell us at hello@monde.cafe and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before telling anyone else. We would much rather thank you than argue with you.
Section 16Our responsibility to you
We'll correct errors in your points, tier or history when we find them or when you tell us.
We're responsible for loss we cause by failing to meet these terms, where that loss is a foreseeable result of the failure.
We're not responsible for: indirect or consequential loss; points or vouchers lost because a PIN, code or phone was shared, published or left unlocked; failures of mobile networks, carriers or your device; or events outside our reasonable control.
Where the law allows our liability to be limited, our responsibility for anything connected to Mondé Rewards is limited to restoring the points or voucher in question, or providing the reward you were entitled to.
Nothing in these terms removes or limits any right you have under Lao law that cannot be removed or limited.
Section 17Our name and our work
The Mondé name, the logo, the app, and the words and designs in it belong to us. Having an account doesn't give you any right to use them, beyond using the app as a member in the ordinary way.
Section 18If something goes wrong
Talk to us first. Email hello@monde.cafe, message us on @monde.matcha, or simply speak to us in the café. We aim to reply within five working days, and most things are sorted the same day.
If we can't resolve it between us, these terms are governed by the laws of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the competent courts of Vientiane will have jurisdiction.
Section 19Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version always lives at monde.cafe/terms, with the date at the top.
For any change that materially affects you, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by app notification, SMS or email.
If you keep using your account after a change takes effect, you're accepting it.
If you'd rather not accept it, close your account under section 12 — and do use up your points and vouchers first.
